About the position

The Procurement Category Operations Manager for Air at McKinsey & Company is responsible for managing a portfolio of strategic global and regional projects that maximize the value of the airline program. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to promote best practices in air travel booking, driving efficiencies, and managing supplier relationships. The position requires a strong understanding of the airline sector and the ability to implement technologies and automation to enhance operations. The manager will work closely with the Global Airline Program Lead and other departments to ensure the successful execution of travel initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of strategic global and regional projects to maximize the airline program's value.
• Assist with the rollout of technologies and automation for scalable delivery.
• Manage suppliers in assigned regions, conducting reviews and improving terms and benefits.
• Collaborate with Regional Travel Managers to support and drive travel initiatives.
• Engage travelers and Executive Assistants to promote best practices in air travel booking.
• Drive end-to-end program management with airline/rail suppliers and internal customers.
• Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in air and rail operations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3-5 years in relevant travel category.
• Exceptional understanding of airline commercial propositions and related sectors.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large data sets and extract meaningful insights.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex ideas and influence stakeholders.
• Consulting and project management skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with travel management companies and New Distribution Capability enabled bookings.
• Knowledge of travel technologies and corporate travel segments.
