About the position

The Category Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and implementing effective procurement strategies for indirect goods and services. This role involves managing vendor relationships, negotiating costs, and ensuring that procurement initiatives align with company goals for cost reduction and financial performance. The manager will assess supplier priorities, consult with senior management, and advise on options and risks related to procurement decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Identify sourcing strategies and best practices to improve supplier quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement category sourcing strategies, including RFI and RFP processes.
  • Document bid events and develop selection criteria for suppliers in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct supplier negotiations and manage ongoing supplier relationships.
  • Research industry trends and provide insights for category improvements.
  • Maximize value and optimize project efforts through data analysis.
  • Support stakeholder management of supplier performance metrics and reporting.
  • Benchmark and analyze performance metrics to demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • Implement supplier management programs with key suppliers.
  • Participate in strategic meetings with suppliers and business leaders to ensure execution of strategies.
  • Manage category supplier relations and drive improvement opportunities.
  • Create and enhance supplier relationships and manage category performance against savings goals.
  • Drive consolidation of spend and seek synergies across business units.
  • Champion category review meetings with cross-functional teams to manage performance.
  • Cultivate team morale and provide mentorship to team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of procurement experience, or High School/GED and at least 5 years of procurement experience.
  • Experience with business and procurement lifecycles and best practices.
  • Experience in negotiations and strategy development/execution.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to meet departmental goals.
  • Experience managing projects and/or cross-functional teams.
  • At least 1 year of direct or indirect leadership experience.
