About the position

The Catering and Event Manager at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines is responsible for executing sales agreements and managing the successful execution of various events, including weddings and corporate gatherings. This role focuses on delivering outstanding guest service while ensuring financial profitability for the hotel. The manager will engage in proactive communication with customers and internal teams, negotiate contracts, and oversee event logistics to create memorable experiences for guests.

Responsibilities

  • Execute written sales agreements for moderately-sized and moderately complex events and weddings.
  • Initiate verbal and written communication with customers and internal teams regarding payment structures, room block management, and event logistics.
  • Analyze customers' service and product needs and authorize appropriate resolutions to concerns while maintaining profitability.
  • Negotiate group sales agreements, pricing, and terms with customers and vendors.
  • Direct customer services through site visits, menu testing, and planning meetings for groups.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings and training events to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Manage customer relationships by drafting proposals and contracts and organizing event arrangements.
  • Provide direction and supervision to catering and event services managers and team members during event execution.
  • Conduct conferences with customers to solicit and close group and local catering business.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in catering and event management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to analyze financial issues and customer needs effectively.
  • Negotiation skills for contracts and service agreements.
  • Experience in managing customer relationships and event logistics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry, particularly in event management.
  • Familiarity with hotel operations and event planning software.
