About the position

The Catering and Sales Planning Manager is responsible for selling and planning events, particularly weddings, social events, and corporate gatherings, to meet revenue objectives. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure successful event execution, managing client relationships, and maximizing profitability through effective sales strategies and event planning.

Responsibilities

  • Sell and plan events specific to weddings, social events, and corporate groups.
  • Prepare accurate proposals, cost estimates, contracts, and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Work with the accounting department for documentation and payment collection.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Marketing and Revenue Management team to assign event space and guest rooms.
  • Upsell events throughout the servicing process to maximize revenues.
  • Meet and greet clients to ensure service excellence and oversee event completion.
  • Contact wedding planning firms to secure business for the resorts.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and seek opportunities from various resources.
  • Create and execute wedding FAM experiences and trade shows.
  • Use sales systems at an expert level for market penetration and client follow-up.
  • Research and develop new business opportunities and promotions.
  • Conduct site inspections with qualified clients and industry professionals.
  • Provide consistent reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent related work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of wedding/catering sales experience in a high-end venue or full-service hotel/resort.
  • Superior sales skills with a proven track record in closing sales.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to travel and maintain a professional self-image.
  • Strong guest and team member relations skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with social media and prospecting tools for reaching potential clients.
  • Knowledge of competitive destinations in the wedding industry.
