About the position

The Catering Event Chef at Rocky Top Catering is responsible for preparing and executing high-quality food for various catering events. This role requires strong culinary skills, the ability to manage timelines, and effective communication with both kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless event execution.

Responsibilities

  • Follow prep lists in a quick, efficient, and accurate manner.
  • Label and stock ingredients on shelves for easy access.
  • Prepare food according to company recipes and standards.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Complete event pack out for assigned events.
  • Check out each component of the event's menu with the FOH event manager.
  • Assist with load in and load out duties for events.
  • Properly pack ingredients/menu items for delivery to events.
  • Perform on-premises cooking, finishing, plating, and garnishing.
  • Maintain health and safety standards for personnel and food service.
  • Manage event timelines from start to finish, ensuring proper execution of the menu.
  • Collaborate with front of house managers to execute special requests.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a Chef in a catering setting (preferred).
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Capable of delegating multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of cooking best practices and current culinary trends.
  • Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
