The Catering Event Coordinator plays a crucial role in the coordination and oversight of catering operations at various locations both on and off campus. This position is integral to the Catering Event Management team, providing hands-on coverage, training, and support for all events in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The coordinator is expected to work independently while under the guidance of the Catering Event Management, offering leadership to both full-time employees and student staff. The role requires flexibility, as it includes shifts during nights and weekends, ensuring that all catering events are executed smoothly and efficiently. In this position, the Catering Event Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food service, ensuring that all catering operations meet the required production levels. This includes preparing simple foods for volume dining and having a comprehensive understanding of the materials and equipment used in a large-scale food service facility. The coordinator will also be tasked with interpreting menus and worksheets, preparing usage reports, and adhering to safety policies and procedures. Strong customer service skills are essential, as the coordinator will interact with a diverse range of individuals and must maintain professionalism, especially during peak service times. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in a large-scale commercial, hospital, or institutional food service operation.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism during rush periods.
  • Ability to prioritize duties effectively.
  • Knowledge of institutional food service equipment and cooking techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three years of experience in a commercial food service environment.
