About the position

LiftOff Creamery is an aviation-themed ice cream store located in Indianapolis, IN, and we are currently seeking a highly organized and energetic Events and Catering Coordinator to manage our catering and event services. This part-time position offers flexible working hours and the opportunity to work in a modern office setting where food is provided. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, leadership qualities, and a professional demeanor, as they will be responsible for ensuring that all events run smoothly and efficiently. As the Events and Catering Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for guests and clients, welcoming them with a friendly and courteous attitude. Your responsibilities will include organizing and coordinating event timelines, overseeing decor setup and breakdown, and ensuring that food preparation and presentation meet our high standards. You will also maintain inventory, liaise with vendors, supervise staff, and assist management with budgeting and financial management related to events and catering logistics. To succeed in this role, you should have a passion for customer service, strong networking skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the food service industry is advantageous, and you will be expected to comply with LiftOff Creamery's Employee Handbook and Policies. This position also offers commission opportunities for each event managed, making it a rewarding role for those who thrive in a dynamic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming guests and clients.
  • Effectively communicate with all guests and staff in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Organize and coordinate an event timeline, ensuring that the service runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate and oversee decor set-up and breakdown.
  • Processing and receiving food orders on time.
  • Maintaining an inventory of food and office supplies.
  • Liaising with vendors and external suppliers.
  • Oversee catering and kitchen staff.
  • Managing staff schedules.
  • Assisting management with food and decor budget, and managing finances.
  • Maintain high personal grooming standards and professional demeanor.
  • Working and managing events and catering necessities.
  • Comply with LiftOff Creamery, LLC Employee Handbook and Policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • A bachelor's or associate's degree in hospitality, culinary arts, event planning and logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in the food service or hospitality industry required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Financial and/or business management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Organized and punctual.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in events management: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Customer service experience: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Ability to commute to Indianapolis, IN 46202 (Preferred)
  • Ability to relocate to Indianapolis, IN 46202 before starting work (Required)
