About the position

As the Catering Manager at Levy, you will play a pivotal role in managing the in-house catering facilities at the Field Museum. Your primary responsibility will be overseeing the daily operations of all catering functions, ensuring that every aspect of the service exceeds guest expectations. You will coordinate closely with the catering sales and culinary teams to ensure seamless execution of events, while also managing the maintenance and inventory of catering equipment. Your role will require you to develop a deep understanding of location-specific food and wine offerings, which will be essential in presenting Levy's catering services to clients in a manner that not only meets but exceeds their expectations and profitability goals. In this position, you will initiate contact with clients to secure their food and beverage selections well in advance of event dates. You will be responsible for holding your team accountable to the established steps of service, ensuring that heartfelt hospitality is delivered to every guest, every time. Maintaining show quality standards will be a critical part of your role, as will building and nurturing strong relationships with clients, guests, subcontractors, and team members. Regular feedback from clients and guests will be essential for continuous improvement in operations. You will also be tasked with executing all menus, promotions, and programs as outlined by the Director of Catering, while achieving daily sales and budget goals. Your responsibilities will include employing good safety and sanitation practices, enforcing responsible alcohol service policies, and ensuring timely completion of required reporting and billing processes. Additionally, you will utilize performance management tools to guide and provide feedback to your team, promote a cooperative work climate, and conduct regular meetings to maintain open lines of communication. Hiring, training, and developing team members according to Levy guidelines will also fall under your purview, as you strive to create a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete required department reports and month-end closing

  • Prepare account forecasts and analysis of group sales
  • Ensure complete billing for client services and receipt of payments

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a food and beverage operational position
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management is preferred
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Passion for hospitality, food, and retail
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
