About the position

The Catering/Event Sales Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with local companies and organizations to enhance the Zoo's catering and event sales. This role involves meeting sales quotas through various techniques, including personal appointments and telemarketing, while collaborating with other departments to ensure successful event execution and positive guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the annual private events sales plan to meet established Zoo goals.
  • Create a client base in the local corporate market through relationship building.
  • Participate in local hospitality and tourism industry events to promote the Zoo.
  • Work with local and state Destination Marketing Organizations to enhance the Zoo's market position.
  • Meet revenue and attendance goals set by the Zoo.
  • Collaborate with Guest Services and Marketing Departments to create compelling sales materials and packages.
  • Conduct tours and site visits for potential clients.
  • Generate proposals and contracts from sales calls to meet sales goals.
  • Negotiate sales contracts to maximize benefits for the Zoo.
  • Prepare and submit weekly sales status and revenue reports to the Director.
  • Analyze industry reports and trends to provide recommendations to management.
  • Increase awareness of the Zoo in target markets through marketing efforts.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all guests and internal customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in catering/event sales or related field.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Strong organizational skills and customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Four years of experience in catering/event sales or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of menu planning and design.
