About the position

The Catering Sales Manager at Sodexo Live! is responsible for creating unique dining experiences by directing and managing catering sales activities at the University of Michigan. This role involves collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure events are executed smoothly, meeting client expectations while achieving revenue objectives outlined in the annual marketing plan.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new catering opportunities to increase revenue.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed targets.
  • Conduct site visits and presentations to potential clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and preferences.
  • Provide excellent customer service throughout the sales process and event execution.
  • Collaborate with culinary and service teams to plan and execute events.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and contracts for clients, outlining services, menus, and pricing.
  • Oversee event logistics, including setup, service, and breakdown.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, hotel/restaurant management or a related field, and/or appropriate combination of education and experience to support on the job effectiveness.
  • Proven experience in catering sales or event management.
  • Strong knowledge of food and wine for menu development.
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage financials, operations procedures, controls and administration.
  • Solid and proven track record for sales and leadership success.
  • Demonstrated success in interfacing with a variety of organizational functions and divisions to accomplish tasks.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts.
  • Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively.
