About the position

The Catering Sales Manager at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is responsible for overseeing the sales and operations of the catering and private dining departments. This role focuses on direct selling, maintaining client relationships, and collaborating with both the restaurant and hotel teams to enhance guest experiences and drive revenue. The position requires a creative approach to market engagement and a strong understanding of industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Manage sales and operations of the catering and private dining departments.
  • Focus on direct selling and client relationship management.
  • Produce marketing plans and assist in developing the annual sales budget.
  • Implement monthly action plans to meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Complete production and sales activity reports on a regular basis.
  • Assist the Director of Catering in developing specific goals and strategies.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of property, space, capacities, and food styles.
  • Review and update menus and packages to meet client needs.
  • Cross-sell with sister restaurants and hotels for referral business.
  • Communicate strategic direction and goals for assigned markets.
  • Maintain accurate notes and traces for accounts in the PMS and Catering Database.
  • Join and attend relevant market organizations.
  • Supervise execution of banquets as needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hospitality experience, ideally in a restaurant or banquet setting.
  • Strong sales and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Professional phone etiquette and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Well organized and detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous structured sales training course is a plus.
  • Creativity in sales strategies and client engagement.
