About the position

The Catering Sales Manager at The Muttontown Club is responsible for directing the Catering department, focusing on planning, budgeting, forecasting, and soliciting new business while maintaining relationships with current clients. The role aims to maximize revenue and control catering expenses through effective negotiation and accurate forecasting. The manager will oversee various events, including weddings, corporate functions, and member events, while collaborating closely with the Executive Chef and the management team to ensure successful event execution.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit new accounts and review previous Catering/Banquet files to generate business.
  • Interact with clients and prospective clients to determine needs and direct staff accordingly.
  • Direct and maintain the sales process.
  • Respond to all inquiry phone calls/walk-ins.
  • Conduct site visits and entertain potential clients.
  • Assist with the development, editing, and distribution of all banquet-related files that generate business.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and write proposals and contracts.
  • Work closely with Brides in the bridal market and act as the face of the business for wedding venues.
  • Bring imagination into each event.
  • Create, edit, and distribute all reports needed for daily, monthly, and annual forecasting.
  • Supervise and monitor the performance of Catering staff in the proper preparation of Banquet menus, memos, and files.
  • Tour and inspect banquet and meeting space to ensure functions are set to client-specific standards and ready on time.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding client requests regarding the BEO process.
  • Ensure complete billing and deposit procedures are handled on a timely basis.
  • Provide an overview of weekly events to staff, the General Manager, and the Food & Beverage Department.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly forecasts of Sales and Catering bookings and their effect on food, beverage, and other miscellaneous revenues.
  • Attend staff and other club meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Two years experience in Catering Sales.
  • Solid understanding of banquet revenue generation.
  • Proven track record of sales performance.
  • Knowledge of social etiquette.
  • Creative menu development skills.
  • High energy, outgoing personality.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong technical literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel.
