About The Position

The Townsend Hotel is seeking a proactive and dynamic individual to join our team as a Catering Sales Manager. This role focuses on seeking new business opportunities specifically in the social event market, responding to inquiries to secure profitable catering contracts, and achieving annual targets. The Catering Sales Manager will ensure timely responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) and incoming calls, prioritizing same-day responses. The position involves conducting site visits and hosting potential clients and wedding planners to showcase our offerings, identifying group budgets, and strategically upselling food and beverage options to enhance the average check, considering the group's preferences and background. Additionally, the manager will gather comprehensive information from event planners to assist other hotel outlets in their staffing, manage all aspects of events including diagrams, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), in-person meetings, and procuring event supplies as needed. The role also includes preparing for and actively participating in discussions about upcoming groups during BEO Meetings, welcoming on-site contacts, facilitating introductions to the Banquet Manager for a seamless transition, and assisting in coordinating vendor drop-offs and setups. The Catering Sales Manager will conduct periodic check-ins with customers throughout the day to ensure smooth operations, remain readily available to address in-house customer needs, and keep the Catering and banquet teams informed of any problems or unusual matters for prompt corrective action. Furthermore, the manager will develop new business relationships, reaching out to existing catering-only bookings for future engagements within the market segment, and proactively make calls to promote the freestanding catering business in the social market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hotel organization.
  • Requires ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to communicate English verbally and in written communication.
