About the position

The Catering Sales Manager at The Westin Crystal City Reagan National Airport is responsible for driving revenue through strategic sales initiatives focused on social events and multicultural markets. This role involves soliciting, booking, and servicing the business and social community, ensuring a high-quality perception in the catering marketplace while meeting predetermined booking goals and managing client relationships effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed pre-determined booking goals for covers and revenue.
  • Handle inquiry calls promptly and monitor the efficient flow of paperwork for confirming function details.
  • Compile lists of prospective clients for sales leads based on various sources.
  • Solicit new and repeat banquet and meeting business.
  • Maintain a client base of key accounts and conventions.
  • Determine guest needs, space availability, meeting details, and food and beverage requirements.
  • Make outside sales calls and utilize site inspections to book business.
  • Monitor pricing, service levels, and facilities at competitive venues.
  • Evaluate potential business for profitability and overall benefit to the hotel.
  • Coordinate Catering Sales group functions and prepare detailed Banquet Event Orders and Group Resumes.
  • Review function contracts prior to distribution to clients and hotel staff.
  • Follow up on bookings and solicit repeat business.
  • Represent the hotel in community affairs and industry-related events.
  • Provide guest sleeping room accommodation information for groups with less than 10 sleeping rooms per night.
  • Check functions prior to guest arrival and make personal contact with clients.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in hotel sales, event management, or a related field with a focus on social and multicultural events (3-5 years).
  • Strong understanding of diverse cultural traditions and preferences.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and days based on business needs.
  • Willingness to travel for networking and client meetings.
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or a related field.
