About the position

The Catering Services Supervisor at Slippery Rock University Dining is responsible for overseeing food service operations, ensuring food safety and quality, and managing staff. This full-time role involves coordinating daily activities, maintaining schedules, and promoting teamwork while fostering employee growth and morale. The supervisor will also handle inventory management, training, and compliance with health regulations, all while contributing to a positive dining experience for guests.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain work schedules and prepare production packets.
  • Direct daily activities of the food service team.
  • Maintain food production safety and quality according to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure safe and organized storage of food items.
  • Maintain serving schedules and ensure food items are served per menu specifications.
  • Maintain a sanitary department following health and safety codes.
  • Conduct weekly inventory checks.
  • Prepare orders as needed for accurate production.
  • Supervise and evaluate employees, promoting growth and teamwork.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Train and mentor food service workers.
  • Maintain logs for equipment maintenance.
  • Complete food safety and temperature logs with corrective actions as necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checklist.
  • Recommend equipment replacements as needed.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in multi-tasking.
  • Fill in for absent employees as necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of daily catering events and ensure timely preparation and delivery.
  • Work occasional night and weekend catered events.
  • Attend food service meetings with staff.
  • Maintain communication with staff through various channels.
  • Perform cashier duties as needed.
  • Promote good public relations.

Requirements

  • Must read, write, and understand verbal instructions.
  • Must complete a sanitation course within the first year.
  • Knowledgeable in operating an efficient cost-effective program.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal situations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
