About the position

The Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist I at Houston Methodist is responsible for performing cardiovascular procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. This role involves assisting physicians with various interventional and therapeutic cardiac procedures, ensuring optimal patient care, and adhering to radiation safety standards. The technologist is an integral part of the patient care team, actively participating in procedures and managing equipment while maintaining a focus on patient safety and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform interventional and therapeutic cardiac or electrophysiology procedures including peripheral and coronary angioplasty, stents, rotablators, atherectomy, laser, and coronary ultrasound.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic or special procedures, including maintaining sterile technique.
  • Scrub into Cath Lab cases to assist with equipment movement and alignment, and control radiation during procedures.
  • Provide care for patients by executing various Radiologic concepts, including positioning and procedure preparation.
  • Modify technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and address complications or limitations during procedures.
  • Follow radiation safety standards and conduct imaging procedures accordingly, ensuring patient protection and compliance with infection control procedures.
  • Document patient procedures accurately and enter charges at the time of service.
  • Participate in department projects and shared governance activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credentials.
  • ARRT-R - Radiologic Technologist - Radiographer (ARRT) certification required.
  • CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months of hire required.
  • One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist with Interventional experience highly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a Cath Lab setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and team player skills.
