About the position

As a Cath Lab RN at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care within a multidisciplinary team. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate the efforts of the care team for patients under your care, ensuring that each patient receives comprehensive and compassionate treatment. You will utilize the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. This role requires a commitment to professional accountability and growth, as you strive to advance your skills from novice to expert, becoming an evidence-based scholar in nursing practice. In this position, you will be expected to demonstrate exemplary nursing practices by accurately assessing patient needs and implementing appropriate care plans. You will prioritize nursing interventions based on patient requirements and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless transition of care. Your responsibilities will also include providing patient education and discharge planning, ensuring that patients and their families are well-informed about their care and recovery processes. You will be an integral part of a supportive community that values the holistic care of each individual, focusing on their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Your role will involve active participation in shared leadership and transformational leadership initiatives, where you will contribute to performance improvement activities and engage in shared decision-making processes. By fostering interprofessional relationships, you will work collaboratively with your colleagues to enhance patient care and advocate for the needs of your patients.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients.
  • Provide direct patient care and collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills in nursing practice.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, and multidisciplinary patient rounds.
  • Provide patient teaching and discharge planning to promote optimal outcomes.
  • Document all pertinent patient information in a timely manner.
  • Accept accountability for problem-solving clinical issues and work with leaders to resolve them.
  • Participate in shared decision-making and performance improvement activities.
  • Act as a resource to coworkers and contribute to their growth through feedback.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Kansas Registered Nurse License required.
  • BCLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association required.
  • No previous experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred or to be obtained within 5 years of employment.
  • Additional certifications/registrations preferred by specific clinical areas.
