About the position
The Cath Lab Technologist plays a crucial role in supporting physicians and nurses during cardiac catheterization procedures. This position involves ensuring that all imaging equipment is functioning correctly and capturing accurate images of the heart and blood vessels. The technologist is responsible for monitoring patients throughout the procedures and assisting with the insertion of catheters, thereby contributing to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up the catheterization lab for procedures
- Calibrate and operate imaging and monitoring equipment
- Assist physicians during procedures by passing instruments, catheters, and wires
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Ensure the safety and comfort of patients throughout procedures
- Assist with patient education and post-procedure care instructions
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures regarding safety and infection control
- Keep inventory of supplies and equipment in the cath lab
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care
Requirements
- Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology or related field
- Current certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT)
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in patient care
- Proficient in operating imaging and monitoring equipment
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
