About the position

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a dedicated Cath Lab Technologist to provide professional nursing care to cardiovascular patients and assist physicians during cardiovascular procedures. This role involves maintaining documentation, ensuring quality control, and acting as a liaison between patients, families, and physicians. The position requires the ability to function in a high-stress environment and respond to on-call situations promptly.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to cardiovascular patients during procedures.
• Assist physicians in operating technical equipment used in cardiovascular procedures.
• Maintain complete documentation of cardiovascular procedures.
• Participate in continuing education and workshops to stay updated on new procedures and technologies.
• Ensure quality control in all areas of the lab.
• Create a secure and safe environment for patients and staff by maintaining awareness of safety hazards.
• Assist with the orientation of new staff within the department.
• Act as a role model and resource person for clinical activities.

Requirements

• Typically requires 2 years of cardiac Cath lab experience or a minimum of 5 years' experience as RTR.
• Demonstrated proficiency in PTCA and EPS preferred.
• AAS in RTR is required.
• Minimum of 12 CEU hours per year.
• Current License in the state of IL as a RT is required.
• ACLS certification is required; RCIS certification must be obtained within two years of employment.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary.
• Ability to anticipate patient and unit needs is essential.
• Ability to teach procedures to staff is required.

Nice-to-haves
