About the position

The Catholic Youth Coordinator for Music Ministry International is a part-time contract position responsible for overseeing and coordinating youth programs at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Chapel. The role involves developing and implementing youth ministry activities, recruiting and training volunteers, and ensuring the program meets the needs of the Catholic community. The coordinator will work closely with the Senior Catholic Chaplain to align the program with chapel goals and provide a supportive environment for youth engagement in faith-based activities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage youth programs in accordance with the guidelines set by the Air Force Chaplain Corps.
  • Assess the needs of the Catholic youth program in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplain.
  • Direct the youth ministry program, recruit and train volunteers, and supervise year-round activities.
  • Organize youth groups for Junior High and Senior High students, including discipleship classes and outreach events.
  • Develop a mission statement for the youth ministry reflecting biblical and Roman Catholic principles.
  • Attend Catholic weekend worship services weekly and promote the youth ministry within the community.
  • Plan and lead Catholic youth retreats, mission trips, and social events as specified in the annual program plan.
  • Provide orientation and training for new volunteer staff members and organize volunteer recognition events.
  • Maintain records of enrollment, attendance, and volunteer staff, and submit monthly reports to the Catholic Community Coordinator.
  • Participate in chapel decorating and clean-up days as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent experience in youth ministry or related fields.
  • Proof of highest level of education, including two years of college in Youth Ministry, Biblical Studies, Education, or related fields.
  • Basic Catechist Certification and Advanced Catechist Certificate Program completion.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for youth ministry with references to support this.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a fluid environment and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships.

  • Experience in military service chapel youth ministry and religious education.
  • Creative vision for the growth and development of the youth program.
