About the position

The Cattle Sales Representative for Southwest Wisconsin is a key member of the field sales team at Merck Sharp & Dohme, responsible for engaging with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions related to Animal Health products. This role emphasizes customer-centric strategies, collaboration with various teams, and the development of territory-specific plans to drive sales growth. The representative will work closely with key decision-makers and utilize available resources to enhance customer relationships and promote the value of Animal Health innovations.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate product information in a meaningful way tailored to individual customer needs.
  • Act as the primary contact for assigned customers, meeting with key personnel to understand their business models and identify opportunities.
  • Develop customer strategies that outline interaction plans and potential offerings to drive sales growth.
  • Create territory and account plans for all assigned customers to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with National Account Managers and other teams to maintain a strong focus on accounts and drive sales growth.
  • Share insights and strategies with team members to foster growth and development within the team.
  • Analyze sales results monthly and manage expenses within budget guidelines.
  • Identify and select programs/services to address customer needs and provide educational opportunities.
  • Work with leadership to develop and deliver relevant offerings that meet customer needs.
  • Stay informed about Animal Health products, industry trends, and competitor landscape to influence sales trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, Agribusiness, Marketing, Business, or Agriculture preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Ruminant and/or agriculture industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to use an iPad.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel overnight and work some weekends.
