About the position

The Aircraft Mechanic Helper supports Aircraft Mechanics in the servicing, repairing, and overhauling of aircraft and engines. This role involves a variety of tasks including assisting with inspections, making entries in aircraft logs, and performing routine maintenance duties. The position requires compliance with military maintenance standards and the ability to work in various environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Aircraft Mechanics in servicing, repairing, and overhauling aircraft and engines.
  • Make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • Adjust and replace parts such as control cables, fuel tanks, spark plugs, tires, batteries, and filters.
  • Remove inspection plates, cowling, engine covers, and related items for inspection and repair.
  • Disconnect instruments, ignition systems, and fuel and oil lines.
  • Assist in dismantling, repairing, overhauling, or replacing parts and assemblies such as engines and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform routine duties such as furnishing materials, tools, and supplies to mechanics.
  • Clean aircraft, interior and exterior parts and assemblies with solvents or cleaning solutions.
  • Inflate tires, fill gasoline tanks and oil reservoirs, and grease aircraft.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Possess a valid US State driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret data is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to obtain a government flight line driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair is desired.
