About the position

The University of Alabama is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor for a non-tenure earning clinical track position in the Department of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry. This role involves teaching family medicine residents and medical students, providing patient care, and engaging in scholarly activities, with a focus on general adult psychiatry, including forensic and geriatric aspects.

Responsibilities

  • Teach family medicine residents and medical students in clinical training.
  • Provide direct patient care in neurology.
  • Engage in scholarly activity related to neurology and psychiatry.
  • Perform administrative tasks typical for a faculty appointment.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree required.
  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Neurology.
  • Must meet Alabama medical licensure requirements and complete licensure prior to start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in both ambulatory and inpatient neurological treatment.
  • Track record of scholarship in a health professions or medical school environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
  • Desire to work in multidisciplinary and inter-professional teams.
