About the position

Modis is seeking a CCNP Certified Network Engineer for a long-term contract or contract-to-hire opportunity with a commercial banking customer in the Western Chicago suburbs. This senior-level role involves the design, implementation, and support of a nationwide enterprise MPLS-based IPv6 Multicast network, utilizing advanced Cisco and Juniper products. The position offers a chance to expand technical knowledge and grow professionally in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Designing, implementing, configuring, and providing escalated engineering support for the client's network infrastructure including Cisco 2800-7600 series routers and Cisco 7000/5000 Nexus Switches.
• Configuring and supporting the IPv6 Network with an emphasis on Multicast and VPNs.
• Designing, configuring, and provisioning WAN networking technologies such as MPLS, IPFR, PPP, and VPN.
• Designing, implementing, configuring, and supporting Cisco ASA, CheckPoint, and/or Juniper Netscreen firewalls.
• Implementing, configuring, and supporting network monitoring, performance management, and optimization tools.
• Implementing standards and best practices for physical and logical network security.
• Designing and engineering new network solutions and making recommendations to expand service and network functionality.
• Providing Tier 3 support during severe network issues and outages.

Requirements

• Active CCNP Certification or higher is required.
• Hands-on experience installing Cisco Routers and Cisco Switches (Catalyst/Nexus).
• Strong experience with IP Multicast and MPLS VPN Networks.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with enterprise Firewalls (Cisco ASA or Juniper Netscreen required).
• Demonstrated network support experience using Nagios, Solarwinds, and/or HPOV for monitoring.
• Strong experience with network performance and traffic management.
• Excellent customer service skills.
