About the position

The CCSM Operator I position at Total Safety involves performing maintenance, repair, cleaning, and sensor change-outs on various types of equipment and gas monitoring systems. The role requires extensive travel and the possession of a TWIC card, emphasizing the importance of safety and compliance in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration procedures on gas monitors.
  • Learn to install service and repair SPM cabinets and confined-space communications equipment.
  • Complete all documentation associated with service in a timely and accurate manner, obtaining customer signatures when necessary.
  • Assist in stocking shelves with clean, tested, and ready-to-use equipment, and pulling, staging, and loading jobs onto trucks for delivery.
  • Maintain work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
  • Follow all steps required before allowing work per guidelines and procedures specific to work being performed, ensuring all workers have the specified PPE.
  • Follow all procedures while work is in progress, keeping visual and/or verbal communication with crew and observing work conditions.
  • Conduct job completion routine and complete all documentation per procedure.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license from state of residence and TWIC card required.
  • Proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific, facility, and customer-required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Trained in Respiratory Protection and fully certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment (Fit Tested).
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English, including operational, process, safety, and quality instructions and work permits.
  • Ability to quickly grasp training and pass certifications to work in-plant.
  • Ability to operate equipment including atmospheric monitoring meters (O2, H2S, CO & LEL) and radios.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in oil and gas refining plant preferred.
  • Second language is a plus.
