About the position

VCA Family Animal Hospital and Oahu Veterinary Specialty center is seeking motivated, professional Veterinary Assistants to join our unique hybrid hospital. We are the largest, most advanced hybrid veterinary clinic in the state. COVID hasn't stopped us! We are currently expanding our team and if you are a hands on learner, are compassionate, professional, have a sense of humor AND your goal is to make sure our clients and their fur babies have an exceptional experience WHILE providing the best medicine possible, this is the CAREER for you! Responsibilities

• Assist doctor and other hospital staff by care and cleaning of patients and facilities.
• Complete patient treatments, assist in surgery and all other animal care functions.
• Client relations including greeting clients and pets, assisting with check-in and check-out.
• Provide compassionate nursing care to all patients.
• Maintain cleanliness of the hospital both inside and outside.
• Perform examinations and assessments of animals.
• Keep accurate records of client and patient information.
• Assist in anesthesia and surgery preparation.
• Conduct radiology procedures and maintain radiology equipment.
• Draw blood samples and prepare lab request forms.
• Create prescription labels and dispense medications as directed.

Requirements

• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Compassion for pets and people.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• High School Diploma.
• Dependable attendance.
• Ability to work long or irregular hours under pressure.

• 2 years' experience in a veterinary hospital setting.

• Previous experience or training/education working in a veterinary facility.
