The CCU Unit Secretary will be responsible for managing various tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency of the unit, including handling patient information, coordinating with medical staff, and addressing the needs of patients and their families. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function calmly under pressure, as the role often involves dealing with difficult situations and managing interruptions. The CCU Unit Secretary will be expected to interpret instructions from various sources, including written, oral, and diagrammatic forms, and to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, respecting cultural differences and utilizing interpreters when necessary. Responsibilities

  • Understand the customer's needs and provide correct information while resolving problems requiring logical thinking and follow-through.
  • Function calmly and logically under tense and difficult situations.
  • Manage frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
  • Provide constructive feedback and initiate appropriate actions to correct situations.
  • Manage difficult patients and deal with a variety of unique situations with limited standardization.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Use appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrate well-developed interpersonal skills to work in a fast-paced environment involving interaction with associates, clients, and patients.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Commit to recognizing and respecting cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external).
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, respecting differences in cultures, values, beliefs, and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous health care experience desirable.
  • Familiarity with CRT functioning highly preferred.
  • Previous secretarial or computer experience desired, preferably in a health-related field.
  • Medical secretarial or computer-related courses preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Meditech, IDX, and AllScripts preferred.
