About the position

160 Driving Academy is seeking dedicated and safety-minded individuals to join our team as Class A CDL Truck Driving Instructors. This full-time position is based in Oklahoma City, OK, and offers a unique opportunity to influence the next generation of professional truck drivers. As an instructor, you will be responsible for preparing students for the Pre-Trip, Yard Skills, and Road Driving portions of their CDL exams. This role not only allows you to utilize your professional truck driving experience but also enables you to make a significant impact on the lives of aspiring drivers. You will have the chance to work in a structured environment, with a set schedule, and enjoy the benefit of being home every night. In this position, you will lead classroom sessions, conduct yard training, and oversee road driving practice. Your responsibilities will include performing evaluations through checklists and observations, documenting student progress, and identifying any gaps in their training to provide additional assistance as necessary. Emphasizing safety concepts, principles, and procedures will be a crucial part of your role, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their future careers on the road. The salary for this position will be commensurate with your experience, and you will be rewarded with a $3000 sign-on bonus upon joining our team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead classroom, yard, and road CDL Class A training
  • Perform evaluations through checklists and observation, documenting progress
  • Monitor student progress, identify gaps, and provide additional assistance as necessary
  • Maintain proper documentation, including daily attendance and evaluations
  • Emphasize safety concepts, principles, and procedures

Requirements

  • Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED
  • MUST have a valid CDL Class A license with a MINIMUM of 36 months verifiable tractor trailer driving experience
  • Must possess a clean driving record: no more than 2 driving offenses or accidents in the past 2 years and no DUI in the past 10 years
  • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be at least 25 years of age
  • Must have basic computer capabilities and know how to navigate a web browser

Nice-to-haves

  • Driver Training Instructor License (preferred)
