About the position

The CDL-A Over the Road Flat Bed position at Service First Staffing involves operating a manual Kenworth T660 truck to transport flatbed trailers across the continental United States. This role requires a dedicated and experienced driver who is comfortable with extended periods away from home, typically 3-4 weeks at a time, and handling diverse loads. The position emphasizes safety, communication, and adherence to regulations while providing opportunities for profit sharing based on load performance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness.
• Maintain accurate driving records in DOT logbooks.
• Adhere to all applicable traffic laws and regulations.
• Maintain regular communication with dispatch.
• Load and unload freight, handling this responsibility approximately 50% of the time.
• Receive detention pay for layovers and hotel accommodation for reset periods exceeding 38 hours.
• Earn 50% of all profits generated from each load.

Requirements

• Valid CDL-A license.
• 1-3 years of CDL-A driving experience.
• Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles.
• Forklift operating skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must possess a FedMed card or pass a DOT physical and drug test.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Kwik Card Access to coastal ports.
• Strong communication skills, coachability, and self-motivation.

Nice-to-haves

• Hazmat endorsement or able to obtain it.
• 23+ years old.
• No DOT-recordable/preventable accident in past 12 months.
• No serious violations in past 36 months.
• No positive drug or alcohol tests.
