The CDL Bus Driver position at The Arc Ontario involves providing safe and reliable transportation for individuals with disabilities or other challenges. This part-time role is ideal for those who enjoy being on the road and helping others, with a flexible schedule that accommodates program needs.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for safe and timely pickup and delivery of all persons assigned to designated routes while driving a bus.
• Maintain a valid NYS commercial driver's license (Minimum class C) with an unrestricted passenger endorsement.
• Maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate and comply with all NYS Vehicle and Traffic laws, NYS DMV 19A rules and regulations.
• Submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post collision drug and alcohol testing.
• Responds to individual needs of passengers and report any issues to a supervisor.
• Utilizes two-way radio to contact base when necessary while bus driving.
• Provides supervision and assists passengers on the bus during loading and unloading of vehicle at designated stops.
• Demonstrates safe and correct use of wheelchair lifts, seat belts, Q-Straints, etc.
• Demonstrates proper lifting techniques when transferring passengers from a wheelchair to the bus.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• HS diploma/GED preferred and one year of experience or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
• No moving violations for 12 months prior to hire.
• Valid NYS Commercial Driver's License class C with unrestricted Passenger Endorsement or willing to acquire within thirty days of hire.
• Must be Department of Motor Vehicles 19‑A certifiable.
