CDL Class A Driver

About the position

Central Garden & Pet Company is seeking a dependable and customer service-focused CDL Class A Driver to join their Pet Distribution team. This full-time position involves delivering pet supplies to various retail accounts, including specialty pet stores and grocery stores, while ensuring exceptional safety and customer service. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, as some overnight routes may be necessary, and offers opportunities for overtime and a quarterly safety bonus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver product within a specific geographical area, including some two-day runs.
• Arrange the delivery of returned goods.
• Develop relationships with Back Door Receivers, Store Personnel, and Store Owners.
• Accurate accounting of checks or cash when delivering COD.
• Make deliveries using lift gate and electronic pallet jack, dolly product into stores without trailer high docks.
• Practice exceptional safety measures while driving.
• Display excellent customer service while interacting with pet store owners and employees.
• Complete delivery documents accurately.

Requirements

• Two or more years of verifiable driving experience with a current and clean Class A CDL.
• Experience using electric pallet jack, manual pallet jack, 2-wheeled collapsible dolly, and lift gate safely.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Responsible, reliable, and dependable work habits.
• Ability to lift and move cartons up to 60 pounds throughout the course of a normal shift.
