About the position
The Driver - CDL (B) is responsible for the safe operation of a collection truck, providing efficient waste removal services to customers while adhering to safety standards and regulations. This role involves conducting vehicle inspections, interacting courteously with customers, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle to ensure proper working order.
- Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route and to the disposal site.
- Read route sheets and follow maps to service each customer as assigned.
- Operate controls to lift and load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of collected material.
- Interact courteously with customers and dispatchers to ensure timely service.
- Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers according to departmental procedures.
- Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials and clean up spills as necessary.
- Maintain the vehicle's operational readiness and cleanliness after each trip.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets, vehicle condition reports, and other necessary documentation.
- Adhere to productivity standards to ensure efficient customer service.
- Participate in the Company's ReSOP program and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Class B or higher Commercial Driver's license with air brakes endorsement.
- Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Strong time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
- Ability to adhere to company policies and promote safety standards.
