About the position

The position involves operating a Ready Mix/Concrete Truck safely and efficiently while adhering to Martin Marietta and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The role requires performing daily maintenance and inspections on vehicles, ensuring the quality of concrete, and maintaining good customer relations. The operator will also assist in training co-workers and must demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures and compliance with regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Ready Mix/Concrete Truck in a safe and efficient manner adhering to Martin Marietta and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance, record and inspection on vehicles including fueling, cleaning, and tire/light inspection.
  • Use water hoses to clean mixer between loads.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Assist maintenance with repairs as needed.
  • Visually inspect the consistency of concrete in mixer.
  • Communicate and direct coworkers verbally or through two-way radio or hand signals.
  • Provide appropriate documentation on delivery tickets and ensure all delivery tickets are signed and returned.
  • Exercise good judgment regarding work site access, unloading, and operation to and from work site.
  • Maintain good customer relations and act in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Assist in training of co-workers as needed.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of lock out/tag out procedures and assure facility compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Possess a Class A or B Commercial Drivers' License (CDL).
  • One-year experience operating tandem trucks and/or Ready Mix truck driving experience preferred.
  • Possess a safe driving record.
  • Maintain an active DOT qualification.
  • Read, write and communicate in English.
  • Ability to perform well in a team environment.
  • Self-motivator.
