About the position

The Colorado Department of Corrections is seeking dedicated professionals to join their team in Buena Vista, CO. This position offers a $25,000 hiring incentive for full-time clinical professionals, specifically for social workers and counselors. The role involves providing programmatic and administrative supervision of the Substance Use Disorder staff at the Therapeutic Community and outpatient treatment program. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing treatment programs, providing clinical supervision, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies. The position is crucial for enhancing the quality of services provided to inmates and requires a strong commitment to public service and effective government.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative supervision including approving leave requests and completing performance management documentation.
  • Conduct clinical supervision including treatment planning and maintaining clinical supervision records.
  • Coordinate with outpatient treatment staff in the delivery of services.
  • Conduct data reporting and quality assurance activities.
  • Develop standardized formats for curriculum delivery and core policies for Therapeutic communities.
  • Provide group and individual therapy to inmates.
  • Document quality/compliance indicators and generate reports.
  • Collect and evaluate data on performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Work closely with Health Services Administrator and Mental Health Supervisor.
  • Assist in Total Quality Improvement processes within Clinical Services Behavioral Health programs.
  • Prepare therapeutic community topic presentations.
  • Participate in process and outcome evaluation research.
  • Provide training regarding treatment of inmates and assist counselors in developing treatment plans.
  • Coordinate the identification, assessment, and referral process for offenders.

Requirements

  • Current, valid Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) credential issued by the Colorado State Board of Addiction Counselor Examiners.
  • Two years of experience with valid licensure from the State of Colorado, including experience with mental health and/or sex offender populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leadership and oversight of a Substance Use Disorder treatment program.
  • Supervisory experience over professional behavioral health staff.
  • Possession of a current, valid Professional Counseling License (LPC), Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Experience providing mental health treatment and discharge planning for severely mentally ill and developmentally disabled populations.
  • Experience providing Substance Use Disorder treatment in a therapeutic community.
