About the position

The Community Peer Support Manager position at the Colorado Department of Corrections is a term-limited role focused on providing support to individuals exiting incarceration, particularly those eligible for medication-assisted treatment (MAT). The manager will coordinate pre-release meetings, facilitate care transitions, and develop programs to incentivize engagement with recovery services. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to effectively monitor and report on the progress of individuals in recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate pre-release meetings and introductions between incarcerated individuals and their post-release support teams.
  • Identify incarcerated individuals on MAT who are within 6 months of release.
  • Facilitate the transfer of care and support plans from the correctional facility to community resources.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Regional Parole Office Peer Specialists and community recovery organizations.
  • Develop and implement a contingency management program to incentivize engagement with peer recovery support services.
  • Track progress and distribute incentives for adherence to MAT protocols.
  • Collect and report data on key performance indicators related to reintegration success.
  • Provide educational sessions on substance use disorders and harm reduction strategies to incarcerated individuals.
  • Maintain regular contact with individuals for a minimum of 90 days post-release to monitor progress.
  • Participate in evaluation activities to assess the effectiveness of the CPSM role.

Requirements

  • Valid, active license from the State of Colorado as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
  • Two years of experience with the mental health and/or sex offender population.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in program development and peer recovery support services.
  • Supervisory experience over professional behavioral health staff.
  • Experience providing Behavioral Health Treatment and discharge planning.
