About the position

As a CEFD Test Engineer RF 3 at Comtech Telecommunications Corp., you will play a crucial role in supporting engineering activities related to the design, testing, checkout, modification, and assembly of prototype RF and electro-mechanical systems. This position involves working with experimental design circuitry and specialized test equipment, focusing on applications that include analog, digital, and RF circuits and systems. You will be responsible for conducting engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data and assist in research work. Your role will also include designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective methods for testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment, as well as preparing test and diagnostic plans and reports. In this position, you will assist in the design, development, and evaluation of new RF and electronic circuits. You will design and build test fixtures based on specific requirements and contribute to reliability improvement and cost reduction initiatives. You will execute approved projects, which will involve developing schedules, collaborating with support personnel, conducting engineering assembly and tests, and preparing documentation to report on project status. Your responsibilities will also include performing advanced tests that require considerable judgment in determining work methods and interpreting test results. You will develop test plans, specifications, and procedures to facilitate the transfer of products to manufacturing, and perform simulations to define operations for new RF circuits and verify their performance. Additionally, you will conduct complex Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) and first article testing to qualify new products. You will utilize documentation processes to implement design, manufacturing, cost reduction, and reliability-related product changes. Root cause analysis on products, technical problems, processes, and documentation will also be part of your duties. You will work closely with manufacturing teams on product assembly, testing, and troubleshooting to meet customer deadlines, and you will be responsible for writing clear and accurate test result reports. Your role may also involve programming circuits and test fixtures on a limited basis, procuring materials and equipment as needed, and researching test equipment capabilities for state-of-the-art testing requirements. Compliance with department and corporate procedures and quality initiatives is essential, and you may be required to train other employees as needed.
