About the position

This position is responsible for managing Li Ion Cell activities, focusing on supplier identification and qualification for Li Ion cells and components. The role involves developing relationships with suppliers, analyzing test data, and supporting technical discussions with OEM customers in North America. Additionally, it includes leading requirements analysis and validation planning for customer projects, ensuring that OEM system requirements are effectively translated into cell requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify Li Ion cell and component suppliers.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers to understand their product offerings.
  • Investigate potential suppliers and keep updated on their portfolios and roadmaps.
  • Communicate cell/component requirements to suppliers.
  • Analyze and report on test data from cell suppliers and internal testing.
  • Support technical discussions with OEM customers in North America.
  • Lead requirements analysis and validation planning for customer projects.
  • Distill OEM system requirements into cell requirements.
  • Provide necessary Li Ion cell/component information to system design teams.
  • Propose, monitor, and assist with internal testing of Li Ion cells/components.
  • Report on internal test data from Clarios.
  • Act as the technical contact for Li Ion cell and component suppliers regarding production performance, quality, and business viability.

Requirements

  • BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
  • 3 to 7 years of professional engineering experience in a related field.
  • Experience with Li Ion cell chemistry and cell design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of APQP quality systems.
  • Knowledge of cell level DFMEA/PFMEA related to cell design and manufacturing.
  • Experience working with OE Automotive/Tier suppliers.
  • Experience with Li Ion cell manufacturing.
