About the position

The Cellar Person at Angry Orchard Cidery will play a crucial role in supporting the team with lab and quality management tasks while also assisting with front of house operations. This part-time position requires mastering all cidery operations tasks and filling in for lab/quality tasks as needed. The role demands flexibility in working hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends, while operating and monitoring production and utility equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Management to oversee operation of quality systems to ensure uninterrupted supply to Cidery needs
  • Maintain lab/quality systems and equipment, supplies, and ordering of consumable items
  • Provide technical feedback, analysis, and assist management with daily duties and reporting responsibilities
  • Promote a team-oriented and 'Safety First' environment
  • Work efficiently to attain department and Cidery goals and objectives
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, repair/response, and maintain lab/production control systems
  • Assist in daily communications and shift meetings for production staff
  • Participate/lead in process improvement initiatives
  • Execute Cidery production-related processes according to recipe formulation & process standards
  • Ensure all lab/quality projects meet scope and safety guidelines
  • Conduct quality checks, process audits, and monitor production reports
  • Relay information regarding quality issues to Cidery management
  • Support functions of Cidery and Tour Center as requested
  • Contribute to market visits and represent the AO brand at local events

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in a lab/quality environment
  • Understanding of the Cider making process
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Good math, verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability, both electrical and mechanical
  • Experience with participative leadership and time management
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills
  • Proven analytical, planning, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including MS Word and MS Excel
