About the position

The role involves designing and developing innovative cross-layer simulation model infrastructure and toolsets for cellular R&D at Apple. The candidate will work within a silicon design group focused on physical layer systems for wireless SoC products, contributing to the simulation and verification of 4G/5G PHY models and collaborating across teams to define project requirements and resolve integration issues.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate PHY reference models in various simulation environments used by systems engineering, HW, FW, and SW development teams.
  • Contribute to simulator configuration management and perform software releases.
  • Work on simulation framework topics, including regression infrastructure development and test coverage analysis.
  • Design and implement 4G/5G PHY models for pre-silicon simulation and verification.
  • Perform verification of PHY models using third-party test tools and data from external network vendors.
  • Contribute to link-level simulator modeling and meaningful metric testing.
  • Design test cases for feature verification and drive feature bring-up and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate across teams to define and document project requirements, including model architecture and interfaces.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of BS and 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Expert knowledge in Python and C/C++, including the latest C++ standard evolution.
  • Strong background in building systems, configuration, and release management.
  • Good understanding of simulator frameworks for link- and system-level simulations.
  • Solid knowledge of wireless communication systems with hands-on experience in 4G/5G PHY FW design and pre-silicon verification.
  • Working experience in workflow automation for verification and regression testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in code optimization techniques and efficient code development.
  • Experience with Matlab and understanding of baseband signal processing algorithms.
  • Solid knowledge of current cellular communication standards: 5G (NR) and 4G (LTE).
  • Experience in chip bring-up including the use of lab equipment.
