About the position

The Cellular Systems Test Engineer at Qualcomm is responsible for testing and modifying systems-level software and hardware, interpreting wireless specifications, and designing test plans and procedures. The role involves documenting defects, troubleshooting issues, and developing testing programs to assess system effectiveness. The engineer will work closely with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks and communicate findings to software and systems teams.

Responsibilities

• Tests and modifies general systems-level software/hardware.
• Interprets wireless specifications.
• Designs test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures.
• Documents systems-level defects using a bug tracking system.
• Identifies, analyzes, troubleshoots, and documents problems with program function, output, or content.
• Develops testing programs that assess effectiveness of a new system or modification of an existing system.
• Conducts log analyses to identify where an issue has occurred.
• Gathers, integrates, and interprets information from various sources to troubleshoot issues.
• Assists with verifying that proposed solutions to identified issues accurately address and correct the problem.
• Detects bugs in the system under test and resolves issues using basic debugging approaches.
• Communicates feedback about identified feature issues to software and systems teams.
• Conducts basic field or lab tests as directed by tech leads.
• Writes functional tests for features to ensure functionality.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of system features and functionalities.
• Ability to collect and analyze logs and requirements.
• Experience in troubleshooting common errors related to systems testing.
• Basic debugging skills to detect and resolve bugs.
• Effective communication skills for discussing testing problems with peers and managers.
