About the position

The Senior Process Engineer plays a crucial role in optimizing the operations, performance, and efficiency of manufacturing processes at the Redding Cement Plant. This position involves evaluating process conditions, implementing improvements, and ensuring compliance with regulations while contributing to the company's sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate process conditions and coordinate the implementation of process improvements in the cement plants.
  • Take field measurements, compile process information, perform literature research, and provide data analysis and reporting.
  • Assist with improving process control, product quality, and efficiencies in the manufacturing process.
  • Assist the Energy Management Team with identifying and implementing energy efficiency projects.
  • Develop projects that help CalPortland meet TCC and California CO2 emission goals.
  • Review new capital project equipment and process design.
  • Design new plant process equipment to optimize plant performance and achieve project objectives.
  • Evaluate plant emissions and develop solutions to comply with regulations.
  • Identify problem areas and work with plant personnel, engineering, and environmental staff to design and implement solutions.
  • Work with automation and control systems and assist with software and graphics development if required.
  • Assist with new process area system start-up and commissioning.
  • Manage capital improvement projects as assigned.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in the execution of all duties and activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, Material Sciences, or Mining Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience with 4 years in cement manufacturing.
  • Experience at multiple cement plants preferred.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with plant and corporate personnel.
  • Ability to multi-task with competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership skills to give directives and coordinate staffing and contractor needs.
  • Ability to lead meetings, maintain records, develop reports, and make presentations.
  • Above-average mathematical abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to other facilities and locations.
