About the position

The Center Administrator at Optum is responsible for overseeing the operational and financial aspects of the Health Center. This role involves providing leadership to clinical and administrative teams, ensuring quality patient care, and managing departmental goals and budgets. The administrator will work closely with physicians and regional management to enhance provider satisfaction and patient experience while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit superior customer service and communication skills with all customers.
  • Represent the company professionally, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Protect and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards.
  • Provide direction and guidance to clinical and administrative teammates.
  • Communicate organizational objectives and vision to the team.
  • Assist in developing and implementing departmental goals, policies, procedures, budgets, and reporting tools.
  • Promote a team approach to delivering quality, cost-effective care with a focus on patient satisfaction.
  • Prepare annual capital equipment and operating budgets for the Health Center.
  • Monitor departmental activities and justify variances when necessary.
  • Implement tools to improve operational efficiencies and control costs.
  • Coordinate provider schedules and patient appointments.
  • Monitor appointment availability and implement changes as needed.
  • Work with the Medical Director and regional team to enhance provider satisfaction.
  • Assist in resolving provider-related issues as necessary.
  • Monitor the impact of growth on the facility's space plan based on projected enrollment and visits.
  • Propose, plan, and direct facility expansion and enhancement projects as required.
  • Maintain a professional facility appearance that meets patient expectations.
  • Enhance Health Center visibility through community involvement.
  • Participate actively on organizational and ad hoc committees as needed.
  • Report progress, operational issues, and organizational opportunities to the regional team monthly or as needed.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction through various programs and respond appropriately.
  • Ensure customer service standards are met and staff compliance with company policies.
  • Develop the team through recruitment, counseling, mentoring, and termination as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with billing policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code policies.
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills and professionalism under pressure.
  • Provide leadership that impacts daily operations of the center.
  • Adhere to and monitor compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Exhibit behavior that exemplifies core values.
  • Multi-task efficiently to meet center and business needs.
  • Implement best practices for patient care and needs assessment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance.
  • Travel locally to the Corporate office and other markets as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
  • Leadership experience is required.
  • Tuberculosis screening and proof of immunity to certain diseases are required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience in a Primary Care setting.
  • 3+ years of experience in a management capacity.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry within managed care and/or medical group operations environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients and personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
