About the position

The Center Operations Coordinator position is a part-time role focused on assisting with the operations and maintenance of USO Centers. This includes delivering engaging programs and activities for military personnel, ensuring a welcoming environment, and managing various administrative tasks. The role emphasizes customer service, operational procedures, and community engagement, making it a vital part of the USO's mission to support troops and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and welcome guests, orienting them to the Center and its offerings.
  • Assist with operational procedures, including opening and closing, key control, and safety protocol adherence.
  • Monitor and maintain the readiness and cleanliness of the Center and its facilities.
  • Help plan and execute programs and events, ensuring sufficient volunteer coverage and supplies.
  • Communicate Center operations and programs through flyers, brochures, and social media.
  • Answer and screen incoming calls and respond to emails.
  • Guide and train volunteers, maintaining their service records.
  • Process cash or credit card sales as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of work experience in administrative, event management, marketing support, or customer service roles.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational needs and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communications.
  • General knowledge of military community preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.
  • Working knowledge of basic business functions and cash handling procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a not-for-profit, military, multicultural, or global organization.
  • Familiarity with Digital Cheetah and desktop publishing software.
  • General knowledge of safe food handling and storage practices.
