This position serves as one of the first points of contact for community members seeking to engage with Pridelines' services. The Coordinator is tasked with creating a welcoming and constructive service environment that promotes human development and supports the diverse needs of the community. The ideal candidate should have a background in mental health counseling or experience working in a community-based organization, demonstrating the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and diverse setting. In this role, the Coordinator will manage the front desk area, ensuring that all visitors are greeted warmly and directed to the appropriate staff. Responsibilities include overseeing the sign-in process for all visitors, maintaining a clean and organized center, and ensuring compliance with center rules and regulations. The Coordinator will also be responsible for de-escalating potential conflicts and maintaining a positive atmosphere within the center. Additionally, the role involves reporting and data management, including entering visitor information into the Pridelines' Apricot Clients Services Database and creating reports related to center activities. The Coordinator will also handle calendar management for the Executive Director and oversee scheduling for center programs and special events. This includes coordinating with groups wishing to rent the space and ensuring compliance with rental agreements. Volunteer relations are another key aspect of the role, requiring the Coordinator to recruit, train, and manage volunteers, ensuring they are matched with appropriate tasks and departments. Team-building and participation in organizational culture initiatives are essential, as Pridelines values a collaborative and supportive work environment. The position may require occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and the ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. The Coordinator will also need to be certified in HIV testing and counseling or obtain certification within 60 days of employment. Overall, this role is crucial in fostering a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQ youth and the broader community.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe, secure, and healthy operation of the community center.
  • Open and close the center as scheduled or instructed by management.
  • Manage the front desk area, including greeting guests and directing them to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure compliance with center rules and regulations by guests, clients, and visitors.
  • Manage the sign-in process for all visitors, including volunteers and interns.
  • Maintain a welcoming, healthy, safe, and constructive atmosphere in the center.
  • Inform center users about Pridelines' programs and participation requirements.
  • De-escalate potential issues and conflicts as they arise.
  • Keep the center clean, organized, and stocked with necessary items.
  • Monitor the use of the David Bohnett CyberCenter and ensure equipment is not mishandled.
  • Report and address maintenance issues in a timely manner, contacting necessary vendors.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the parking lot and garden areas.
  • Enter visitor sign-in information into Pridelines' Apricot Clients Services Database.
  • Create and complete various reports related to tasks and center programs on a monthly basis.
  • Manage the Executive Director's calendar and oversee the Liberty City location calendar.
  • Schedule all center programs, activities, and special events, including booking and space setup.
  • Ensure compliance with terms of space rental agreements for groups wishing to rent the space.
  • Serve as the liaison between Pridelines and renters on the day of events.
  • Follow up on volunteer inquiries within 48 hours and manage volunteer relationships.
  • Recruit and train volunteers according to Pridelines' policies and procedures.
  • Schedule volunteers to meet community center and program needs as required.
  • Supervise volunteers and provide technical assistance on tasks.
  • Participate in team-building activities and outreach efforts.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • High level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Certification in HIV testing, counseling, and linkage or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Ability to pass level 2 background screening.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience in social work, mental health counseling, or another helping profession.
  • Understanding of non-profit, mission-based advocacy, particularly related to LGBTQ issues.

  • Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
