About the position

The Industrial Engineer at O.K. Foods, Inc. will play a vital role in optimizing and enhancing the poultry production process within the Continuous Improvement department. This position focuses on ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality production of poultry products, requiring a strong understanding of poultry processing operations and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform productivity measurements consolidating capabilities of equipment, lines, personnel, and processes to design and report efficiency measurements of the process on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Find inefficiency solutions detected in the production lines through the integration of equipment and the establishment of action plans to improve the process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and optimize the layout of the poultry processing line.
  • Identify the deviations of yield to perform cause and effect investigations to create an action plan with management team for its control.
  • Review headcount to identify adjustments on personnel to increase productivity on headcount, resources, and equipment.
  • Regularly analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate process efficiency and product quality.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures for various poultry processing operations.
  • Drive training responsibilities to supervisors and management on specific techniques of industrial engineering, statistics, and lean manufacturing to develop necessary action plans to improve the process.
  • Support lean six sigma projects to assure savings according to plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Electrical) from a four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
  • Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
  • Knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Lean Six Sigma (green or black belt) preferred.
