About the position

Ardurra is seeking a Mid-Level Civil Project Engineer to join our staff in Houston, TX. In this role, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks that involve engineering design work, design calculations, specifications, research, and preparation of drawings or designs, as well as construction administration of municipal and county civil projects. Your responsibilities will include designing storm water channels, water lines, sewer lines, lift/pump stations, roadways, and more. You will be expected to perform assignments of limited scope that require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design engineering tasks. As a Mid-Level Civil Project Engineer, you will apply broad knowledge and focused detailed knowledge of principles and practices in your areas of assignment and related fields. You will perform complex assignments while exercising judgment in the evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques. Your work will involve using advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments. You will independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, and work on major projects or several projects of moderate scope with complex features. You will also be responsible for presenting specific aspects of engineering assignments at project/client/stakeholder meetings, designing complete projects, systems, components, or processes to applicable standards, and preparing complete project documents for hydrologic studies and analysis, hydraulic design, water transmission/distribution, wastewater collection, storm water conveyance and quality evaluation, flood plain analysis, and federal and state regulations and permit compliance. Additionally, you will formulate and solve problems, analyze and interpret data, develop conclusions and recommendations, and utilize applicable software and tools in the analysis and design of the project. Your role will also include reviewing complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance, implementing and monitoring project budgets and fee estimates, and acquiring knowledge of and ability to apply new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products. In this position, you will assign tasks to and direct engineers, technicians, and administrative staff, plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the engineering work, prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments, and assist with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs. You will receive general direction on key objectives and guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 7+ years of civil experience required (Advanced degree may be substituted for the experience).
  • Professional Engineering License required.
  • Ability to collaborate with other employees, interact with clients and contractors.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, with a demonstrated capability to meet project budget and deadline.
