About the position

ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Central Sterile Processing Technician to support the Sterilization Department at the Cranberry location. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and assembles surgical trays and equipment.
  • Adheres to decontamination, sterile processing, infection control, and safety policies.
  • Troubleshoots decontamination/sterilization equipment.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or required in emergencies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of performance improvement tools and techniques.
  • Continuously improves care quality and integrates best practices.
  • Shares improvements with other units.
  • Communicates effectively with care providers and recommends practice changes.
  • Ensures comprehensive documentation for caregiver communication.
  • Analyzes clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues critically.
  • Incorporates goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Builds compassionate patient relationships.
  • Shares new knowledge through presentations, posters, and publications.
  • Builds productive relationships through mentoring and positive communication.

Requirements

  • High school Graduate/GED OR 1 year of experience with UPMC.
  • Six months of healthcare experience required.
  • Currently enrolled in an Accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing Program Preferred.
  • Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
