About the position
The Central Supply/Medical Records Clerk position is responsible for maintaining the supply inventory and ensuring that necessary medical supplies are available for patient care. This role also involves providing clinical and administrative support to the nursing department as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain established par levels of supplies necessary to meet the Patients/Residents needs.
- Keep Central Supply organized and clean at all times.
- Ensure supplies are available 24-hours a day, including weekends.
- Inventory items in the medication room each morning and before the end of the shift to restock utilized items.
- Place weekly orders for medical supplies based on the assigned schedule to avoid additional shipping costs.
- Make arrangements for supplies and equipment for new admissions as needed.
- Order Over the Counter Medications to maintain a par level for one month's supply based on utilization.
- Purchase Over the Counter Medications from community pharmacy for items not in inventory and ordered by physician for new admissions.
- Work with the Executive Director/Director of Nursing to stay within budget by completing the Budget Control Worksheet.
- Review Cantex Continuing Care Network's Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and enforce employee responsibilities.
- Attend weekly in-services and comply with patient/resident Care Management Systems.
- Assure patient/resident safety.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of one-year experience in central supply within a long-term care setting is preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medication Aide preferred.
- Accurate typing skills of 40 wpm or more are needed.
- Computer literacy is mandatory.
- Ability to read, speak, and write the English language.
