About the position

The Central Utility Plant Technician at Lockheed Martin Operations and Facilities is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various mechanical systems critical to the functionality of the Owego Central Utility Plant (CUP). This role ensures the efficient operation of systems that provide essential utilities such as light, heat, and power to manufacturing processes, contributing to the overall performance of the site.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical systems including refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, chillers, air compressors, electric motors, diesel generators, pumps, heaters, and boilers.
• Perform routine checks on equipment and troubleshoot mechanical issues to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on systems to keep them in top working order.
• Utilize building automation systems to monitor and adjust equipment settings for maximum efficiency.
• Document system performance metrics such as temperature, pressure, water levels, and chemical usage.
• Support plant operations and maintenance teams to enhance overall site efficiency.

Requirements

• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in power plant operation and central utility plant maintenance.
• Demonstrated mechanical, electrical, and pipe-fitting experience.
• Experience with predictive maintenance strategies, root cause analysis, and Reliability Centered Maintenance practices.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting commercial/industrial boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, generators, RO water systems, pumps, fans, motors, and variable speed drives.
• Knowledge of building automation systems in a Central Utility Plant and manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) software.
