About the position

The Certification Engineer - Aircraft Interior Completions - Tech Spec II at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is responsible for guiding the successful completion of major engineering programs related to aircraft interiors. This role involves developing and reviewing certification plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing mentorship to junior engineers. The engineer will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex engineering issues and contribute to the development and production of Gulfstream products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Consult extensively with associates and others as a recognized authority within the field.
  • Anticipate and resolve complex issues creatively and effectively, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
  • Balance technical product, cost, and schedule in problem-solving approaches.
  • Work independently with minimal direction, with work reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results.
  • Exercise latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments and make authoritative decisions and recommendations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and related aircraft fields to recommend innovations for quality and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a technical related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required.
  • 10 years in a specific technical discipline or 15 years of broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience developing and reviewing certification plans with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to review and understand engineering design data and associated substantiation data for compliance.
  • Understanding of 14 CFR part 25 regulatory compliance requirements under 14 CFR part 21 certification procedures.
  • Experience with FAA requirements and EASA processes is preferred.
  • Proficient in determining and applying certification methods of compliance to airworthiness standards.
  • Experience managing engineering type design change projects, new/amended STC projects, major repairs, and alterations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with other foreign authorities in addition to EASA processes.
  • Previous experience working with a delegated organization (ODA, DAS, DOA) is preferred but not required.
  • Understanding of conformity process is desired.
  • Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred.
